Mere days before the opening of the App Store, most everyone was still on the waiting list, including me. TanZen was complete and included a fairly simple piece-manipulation scheme. But I was worried players were not going to understand it. With three possible things you could do to each piece, as well as the somewhat complicated nature of tangram puzzles themselves, I felt like I needed a way to show people how to solve a puzzle I needed a tutorial. I decided to spend a little time creating an animated tutorial, which would cover everything that could be done in the game, by walking players through completing one of the puzzles. I wanted to use minimal text, so it would be understood by anyone in the world. I figured I could code it up in an evening with no problems. Right as I was about to start, the App Store finally arrived.

Return to SpaceHikeAppDelegate.m, and then go ahead and add the following line to applicationDidFinishLaunching, which will set up a timer to call the frame-rendering function:

Sometimes you need to stop watching a particular video. This option lets you decide what to do the next time you want to watch you can either watch the video from the beginning or from where you left off. Just select the option that you desire and that will be the action from now on.

The App Store Arrives!

If your video has closed captioned capabilities, when this switch is turned to ON, closed captioning will be shown on your screen.

There are many third-party gadgets out there that allow you to watch the video from your iPod touch on some external source, either a TV or computer screen, or even an array of video glasses that simulate watching on a very large screen monitor. Most of these require that your TV widescreen setting be set to ON. By default, it is set to OFF.

Adding the following after the #import lines sets the frame rate at 30 FPS based on this timer calling once every 1/30th of a second:

There are some advanced ways of taking content from your iPod touch and playing them on your TV or DVR with the right cable. You also need to have the right TV signal setting. This is typically changed only if you use your iPod touch in another country. If you live in the U.S., your TV works with the NTSC standard. Most European countries use PAL. If you are not sure which you use, contact your TV, cable, or satellite company.
