In the gate image, the results are pretty close. All the techniques did well here, and there s not much to choose between them. The Hue/Saturation approach lacks some contrast, so it would probably come down to a choice between the other two. For the portrait, the results are more striking. The Hue/Saturation technique again lacks contrast, while the Channel Mixer version is generally too dark once the skin tones and eyes are boosted. The Black & White approach, though, has a really nice feel, with good contrast and great skin tones. In terms of ease of use, the Hue/Saturation adjustment can t hold a candle to the other two, mainly because you can t see all your color range settings at the same time. This is fiddly to work with. Having to be careful with total color values in the Channel Mixer is also a little tiresome, so although there are more sliders to worry about in the Black & White adjustment, this is the clear winner here. All in all, the new Black & White adjustment probably takes the crown, especially when dealing with skin tones.
